What happens when future brings us a loss of connection with nature till the point of forgetting the pleasure of drinking water in a river with our own hands?
The gesture of bending down to drink water with our hands is one of the first gestures that humans learned. Using our hands to quench the thirst. Our hands, our first spoon. This ritual connected them with nature, materiality and sensitivity of the elements.
In a future scenario where the technology-mediated society has a difficult
access to nature due to climate change and the overcrowding of cities; this project allows people to relive the feeling of drinking water from a river.
Ancestral Connections is a surface adapted to the hands of users that
allows drinking water in a river through virtual reality. The gestures, the sound and image allow the future human to re-connect with the ancestors.
This project aims to provoke a reflection on the technological world in which we live and proposes us to return to ancestral traditions in order to be more
