The Traveling Tamale is a street food truck that provides for free food to the migrants who illegally cross the US/Mexico border with a versatile, protective food product that remains edible throughout their days-long walking journey over difficult terrain. The Traveling Tamale truck changes location daily and is a hub of information and suggestions for migrants crossing the border illegally.
The Traveling Tamale is composed by 2 different tamales: The first one is created with the ingredients of the typical dish of the migrants’ origin. A way to say goodbye to their traditions. The second one, is created with the ingredients of the famous American Turkey dish that is eaten in the Thanks Giving Day. A way to say welcome to the migrants that came to the USA searching for a better life.
As migrants often need to run, jump and hide while on their journey, the Traveling Tamale provides consumers with a sanitary, utensil-free product that can be opened and sealed quickly.
